Located in Jefferson, Georgia in a small family owned cattery.  All of the cats and kittens are a part of our family and raised underfoot.  Socialization is an important key to the happiness of  each Devon Rex.

I feel madly in love with the Devon Rex Breed and wish to share my passion through responsible breeding, education/awareness and providing a limited number of kittens and cats to approved homes.  These cats are one of a kind and truly special !  Each one is uniique in appearance as well as personality.

  • Where Did the Devon Rex Originate?

    The Devon Rex originated from a feral tom and tortie with white female that lived in Devon, England in a tin mine in 1959 (founded in 1960).  Miss Beryl Cox lived near the area and provided shelter for the mother and kittens.  There was one kitten that stood out and Miss Cox named the kitten Kirlee due to his wonderful black coat of wavy curls.  He was later discovered to posess a different gene than any other cat, including the Cornish Rex.  This is where (and when) the Devon Rex breed began.

  • What Kind of Personalities Do Devon Rex Have?

    They are intelligent, playful and mischievous cats.  Hunting and interactive games are ideal for the Devon Rex.  These cats want to be with their owners and involved in anything that they are doing since the Devon Rex are known to form strong bonds with "their people".  Also, it is common that a Devon Rex will find ways to make their owner's laugh.

    Further, the Devon Rex breed gets along with other cats and typically will get along with cat friendly dogs.  Being active and social, they also enjoy children and families.

  • What Are Some Things That I Need To Know Before Getting A Devon Rex?

    *  Devon Rexes get cold.  These cats are indoor only cats!

    *  Their whiskers are fragile and can break.  Often, they will have stubbly whiskers.

    *  Devon Rexes are more athletic than they may first appear!  They are excellent jumpers.

    *  Devon Rexes do not like to be left completely alone for long periods of time on a regular basis.

    *  While no cat is completely hypoallergenic, a Devon Rex is close.  Many allergy suffers can tolerate a Devon Rex.

    *  They do not shed often.

    *  Grooming is very simple.

    *  Devons are social cats and love to be in a person's lap or on their shoulders.  They are accepting of new people.

    *  It is believed that Steven Spielberg was inspired by his own Devon Rex in the making of E.T.  Just think of a Devon with his ears down.

Why Haven't I Heard Of Or Seen a Devon Rex Cat?

The Devon Rex is a minority, or rarer, pedigreed cat breed.  It was not officially recognized in the United States until 1983 making this breed a newer breed compared to much more established breeds.  To put things in perspective, there is a very small number of purebred felines in the United States vs. domestic felines (mixed breeds).  Roughly 95% of cats in the United States are mixed breed (domestic). Out of that low number the relatively newer Devon Rex is a smaller percentage of the purebreds found in the U.S. than some other breeds such as British Shorthairs, Maine Coons or Ragdolls for example.  Out of your friends or your family how many cats are purebred and how many are domestic (not a purebred)?  Think about how that relates to purebred dogs vs. non purebred.  When you just think about it you notice the vast difference in the number of purebred cats vs. those that are not and then purebred dogs vs. purebred cats.  Getting  purebred cat is holds the same logic as getting a purebred dog.  You can pick a breed that will match your lifestyle and desires of a pet while helping to preserve that particular breed!
