Appearance

Known for their distinctive wavy, curly coats, Devon Rex kittens have a unique texture that feels like velvet. Only a Devon Rex has the soft gentle wave to their fur. Other curly coated cats have curls that are unique to their breeds. Also, a Devon Rex eyes are large and expressive, often with a striking green or gold hue.

Personality

Devon Rex cats are renowned for their playful and affectionate nature. They are highly social and thrive on human interaction, making them ideal companions for families and individuals alike. Being extremely intelligent makes them easy to train as well. If you happen to laugh at something a Devon Rex does they are likely to repeat it as they enjoy being jesters.

The Devon Rex originated from non-pedigreed cats in Devon, England in the late 1950s as a result of a natural genetic mutation. Miss Beryl Cox took in a stray female from a mine and when the cat had kittens there was one with curly fur. She kept the kitten and named him Kirlee. People thought he had the same genes as a Cornish Rex but it was discovered that he had his own unique gene creating a different breed.
